FIFA Manager 10 authors decided to publish the list of hints which are meant to make virtual managers life a little bit easier. Some of them you surely know for a long time, but following tips are worth reading, maybe some of them will be helpful. This list of Tips@Tricks is dedicated to newbies, users who experience FIFA Manager world for the first time:
ONLINE: It is advisable to control the ball in the midfield, so the opponent won’t get into the game. A 4-5-1 will mostly be more effective than a 4-3-3.
ONLINE: Players with the attribute “mental skills” will compensate the home advantage of the opponent due to their experience. If you have several players with this ability, you might compensate the alleged advantage.
ONLINE: Players with the attribute “leadership” will give you a bonus on their part of the team. However, if there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians, you should avoid having too many leaders in your team, at the most one for every part of the team.
ONLINE: You should train individual skills of single players very specifically, because by just improving one attribute, the chances for a total strength loss increase.
ONLINE: If you play with smaller teams, you should use the time of the first week to adjust all your settings. In this way you can enter the bonus race in the following weeks, and thus gain budget.
TRAINING: Decrease the individual training extent of your regulars, especially if they are also national player. They will develop less, but they stay fitter and the injury rate is smaller. And an injury will set them back in their career more than less training.
INFRASTRUCTURE: If you carefully plan your Catering, Public Transportation and VIP-Areas you can achieve small profits. This is especially interesting for smaller clubs with limited budgets.
MATCH PRAXIS: In order to provide a player with playing time which he is not getting in the first team due to poor form, it is recommended to put him into the second team for some weeks. He won’t be overly thrilled, but through good performance in the reserve squad his form will increase and he will become a real alternative again.
PLAYER TALKS: Through player talks you can give your players concrete commands what they have to improve. This raises the chance that the player will improve a respective skill for some points after some weeks, for example crosses, strength or his weak foot abilities.
Furthermore, regular player talks will lead to a better trust which will in turn result in bonuses in forthcoming contract negotiations.
YOUTH PLAYER: You should give your most talented youth players a chance in the first team and let them play in the last few minutes of a match. They will gain experience, learn from the pros and they will develop faster. If you can create 5-6 appearances like that for your youth player, chances are good for him to receive a little upgrade at the end of the season.
LACK OF FORM: friendlies against lower class teams present an opportunity to get player out of a lack of form, a victory will improve low morale.
FAN SHOPS: If you have at least three players from another country, the building of a fan shop in another country can make the cash tills ring.
If you already have a youth camp in the respective country, chances are very good that you will have future players from that country. If you organize a friendly in that country the fan shop revenues will also rise.
BUDGET: Keep an eye on finances. Especially after a successful season, rewards for winning the championship or for keeping the class are due. Therefore, sufficient funds should be available; otherwise the board will not be happy. You can see all agreed bonuses on the finance screen.
COOPERATION CONTRACTS: Search for a cooperation partner, in order to reinforce your team with loaned players and receive financial subsidies. This will help your team to master the hard way to the very top of the league.
SCOUTING: When you send out your scouts regularly to a specific country, they will get specialized and they will evaluate players from that country earlier and more precise. If you don’t have any special task for your scouts, let him scout the short list. This way he will scout players already in scope and avoid possible bad buys.
TRAINING: If you coach a weak team with limited transfer possibilities, concentrate on condition and fitness of your players. This way you have a physical advantage at the end of the season which will win you some points when the stronger opponents are exhausted from dual burdens.
TRANSFERS: Use the winter break to search for players who didn’t get much play time at their clubs due to strong competition. You can often loan such players or buy them for little money.
LOAN: When loaning players make sure to set a fixed transfer fee. If the player improves at your club and his market value will rise respectively, you only have to pay the agreed price, even though his market value doubled.
FREQUENCY PROMISE: Check the frequency promises regularly and adjust them, when you can foresee strong deviations. The player who now only gets regular appearances will be disappointed at first, but he will appreciate your fairness and frankness in the long run.
NATIONAL TEAM: Have a close look at players with dual citizenships, in order to naturalize them in time, before the other association nominates the player and lets him play. Scouts are now also available in national team mode, to evaluate these players.
TRANSFERS: Grant players you want to sell some short appearances on national and international level. This will increase their experience and his market value, which mostly leads to better offers and proceeds. Injured players or players in a poor form are worth less than fit players. It is better to let their injuries heal, before you put them on the transfer list.
STAFF SALARIES: If your president doesn’t allow you to sign new staff members, you can change the staff salary in the financial status screen. Simply click on the number to edit the amount.
Game Tactics:
- You are leading by one goal and the opponent is rushing on your goal? Activate Time-Wasting for some minutes to put him out of his stride or move your defense higher. This will shift the action in the other half and might turn the tide.
- Allow your full backs to run forward frequently, you will get dominance on the wings and you can put in crosses to dominate the game. If you choose this rather offensive tactic you should train and activate the offside trap to avoid goals from counter attacks.
- If you are clearly in the lead, it is recommended to drive back the commitment to reduce the energy loss of the players. This way your squad will be fit for the next game without severe rotations and you also reduce the injury risk and the amount of cards.
